The 4th edition of EUNIC London’s annual short film festival “In Short, Europe” took place on the 7th of May 2022 at the Institut français, marking the celebrations for Europe Day 2022. Titled “Loving Encounters”, the festival featured outstanding and award winning shorts from 25 European countries in animation, fiction and documentary.
The festival celebrated European cinema with screenings, panel discussions and networking events. The film programme was curated by Shira Macleod and was divided in three sections:
1. Partners In Time: looking at unusual connections and situations where a relationship just works.
2. With or Without You: looking at intimacy in relationships and how despite the pain which accompanies the pleasure, there is much to be gained in life experience.
3. A Match Made In Heaven: looking at relationships which have profoundly affected, changed or influenced one or other party.
Each section was followed by panel discussions with filmmakers, moderated by Danny Leigh and Robin Osmani.
Between 21-28 May the festival went online on EUNIC's Vimeo platform (UK wide only), giving the opportunity to audiences beyond London to enjoy European cinema.
Cyprus participated in the festival with Alexandra Matheou’s award-winning short film “A Summer Place”.
The festival was organised by EUNIC London and hosted by the Institut français du Royaume-Uni in partnership with the European Union in the UK.
